How To Clean Up Your Backyard To Improve the Landscape
Everyone is ready to spend some time outdoors after winter is over, and cleaning your yard for spring is at the top of the to-do list. That being said, there is likely some trash, or at the very least dead plants, that can be removed from your backyard to help give it a polished look. Knowing how to clean up your lawn and landscaping for a clean and modern look is a must.
Spring Yard Cleanup Checklist
The first thing you want to do is remove any refuse or garbage that might have piled up over the winter. This means both manmade garbage and any dead plants or other plant matter hanging around. You will have a clear look at your plants, like shrubs that made it through the winter and any that need to be removed.
The next step is to prepare flower beds if you will be planting or if you have bulbs that will come up by removing any dead plants that might be hanging around. You may also take this time to aerate the soil if you are planting new and to remove anything else that might be blocking your plants from coming up this spring. After that, you can start the planting process. If you are planting bulbs, it is suggested that you do so in the fall rather than the spring. If you are planting actual plants or annuals, you will want to plant them in the spring so that you have plenty of time for them to bloom before fall makes its way back around.
Now you can focus on weed control and how to control pests. If you weed your beds every week, you may not need any herbicide to control them. If you cannot weed frequently, getting a great weed killer may be necessary to take care of pesky weeds. You also need to consider any bugs that might want to make your garden their snack. Using pesticides is the only surefire way to get rid of the pests.
Removing and Disposing Refuse
This is the biggest thing when cleaning up your yard for the spring and summer months. We can accumulate trash and dead plants easily without really noticing it. Taking the time to get that cleaned up can already help to make your yard look a million times better. It can also make the rest of your tasks seem a bit less daunting in the grander scheme.
